Education

Cloud County, Kansas has quality education for K-12 and beyond with three different school districts and a community college. 

Unified School District 224, Clifton-Clyde, serves the communities of Clifton (in Washington County) and Clyde, as well as the surrounding rural areas. USD 224 offers quality and unique opportunities to enhance learning.

  • A free preschool is offered for children at least 4 years of age and reside within the school district’s boundaries.  
  • USD 224’s average grade size (K-12) is 20 enabling it to offer successful opportunities to all students.  
  • In partnership with Cloud County Community College and Manhattan Area Technical College, qualified high school students can enroll in college courses and earn college credit offered at the high school.

Southern Cloud Schools, Unified School District 334, serves the communities of Glasco and Miltonvale in Cloud County and Delphos in Ottawa County.  USD 334 offers quality and unique opportunities to enhance learning.

    • A free preschool is offered for children at least 4 years of age and reside within the school district’s boundaries.  
    • Southern Cloud Schools average 7-10 students per grade (K-12). 
    • Working with multiple community colleges in the state, Southern Cloud Schools offer concurrent education to qualified high school students.  Students can enroll in college courses and earn college credit offered at the high school. 

Unified School District 333, Concordia Public Schools, is the largest school district in the county providing services for more than 1,170 students in Preschool through the 12th grade. USD 333 serves 336 square miles of Cloud, Republic, and Jewell counties. 

Grade configuration includes:  Concordia Elementary School – Grades Pre-K-4; Concordia Middle School- Grades 5-6 and Concordia Jr./Sr. High School-Grades 7-12. USD 333 is also the host district for the Learning Cooperative of North Central Kansas, which provides special education services for 4 additional area school districts including USD 109 Republic County, USD 108 Washington County, USD 224 Clifton-Clyde and USD 426 Pike Valley. 

Concordia Public Schools is an original member of the Coalition of Innovative Districts. USD 333 offers concurrent college credit through Cloud County Community College to all students. Career and Technical Education Pathways in:

Higher Education

Cloud County Community College serves the educational needs of 12 counties in North Central Kansas and offers degrees and certificates in agriculture, business, mathematics and engineering, renewable energy and other science fields.

North Central Kansas Technical College offers over 24 programs of study at its two campuses one in the neighboring Mitchell County, City of Beloit and another in Hays, Kansas. NCKTC offers degrees and certificates in business and technology, automation, transportation technology, welding and more.

Salina Area Technical College offers technical certificates and associate degrees in automotive technology, business administration and technology, commercial truck driving, electrical technology, machine tool technology and welding. Salina is just south of Cloud County down Highway 81.

Kansas State Polytechnic, also south of Cloud County via Highway 81, offers Bachelor’s, Associate’s degrees, as well as certificates in applied business and technology, manufacturing, aviation electronics, computer systems technology, electronic and computer engineering technology, mechanical engineering, robotics and automation and more.  As the no. 2 Unmanned Aerial Systems College in the United States, Kansas State Polytechnic, is on the cutting edge of a dynamic and growing field.
